So Much More: God Is Protecting

Text: Nehemiah 4

When the work of God’s people gains momentum and begins to take shape, it is almost assured that opposition to the work will intensify and threaten to stall the work and discourage the workers. It is in these moments that we can remind one another that if God is for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31). Instead of cowering in fear of the growing opposition, we can be assured that confidence in God’s protection produces courage in God’s people so that the main thing remains the main thing in the hills, the valleys, the conflict, and the calm.

So Much More: God Is Building!

Text: Nehemiah 2:18-3:12

The title of this message may seem strange when it is clearly the hands of man doing the physical labor of rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem in Nehemiah 3. However, we are reminded that this entire book and every aspect of this work was all because and all for God. God had been building up to this moment by stirring and preparing the people, and now they begin to move forward to accomplish His work. Though the times, faces, and places have all changed, God has not. He is still faithfully building – building His people, His Church, His Kingdom, His work – for His glory. The question to consider is this, “Are we building with Him?” We invite you to listen today to discover how God is inviting you to partner with Him in His work.

So Much More: God is Stirring

Text: Nehemiah 2:11-20

As a verb, the word “stir” means “to rouse to activity, to call forth, to disturb the relative position of the particles, to cause a movement or change of position.” It implies that there is a force working and moving to change the status quo, a state of being that is being disrupted. This is what we see God doing in Nehemiah 2, as He awakens and arouses the people to get to work. He had already stirred in Nehemiah’s life to call him to action and to prepare him for the task at hand, but here we find that God was doing so much more to stir in the lives of others and invite them to play an active part as well. We invite you to listen to this message today to discover how God may be stirring in you to accomplish His work today.
