So Much More: God Is Strengthening

Text: Nehemiah 6:1-16

Some find it difficult to relate to Nehemiah because he seems to have it all together. At every turn of the story he defies all odds, overcomes the enemy, and perseveres in the work of God. We, on the other hand, often struggle to do each of these things. In Nehemiah 6:9 God shows us the key to Nehemiah’s strength and invites us to experience it in our lives today. We invite you to listen closely, examine your life, and fully rely on Him for the strength that only He can provide.

So Much More: God Is Purifying

Text: Nehemiah 5:1-19

We live in a culture that says, “Life is all about you. You can live however you want.” We don’t want anyone to tell us what we should do with our lives, but what we do with our time, talents, and treasures matters to God! They reveal who and what is first place in our lives, and what in our lives will truly last when this temporary life is over. In this text, there were many faithfully giving of their time, talents, and treasures to serve the Lord, do His work, and build up God’s people. However, there were also some Jewish nobles who were wasting their time, sitting on their talents, and withholding their treasures. God would not allow their sin to go unnoticed, so He took deliberate steps to confront the problem so that He purified and unified His people to go forward in His work. We invite you to listen today to consider how God wants to purify you so that you, too, join Him in the work that He is doing.

The Harvest Is Here

Text: John 4:24-42

As followers of Jesus, we have been entrusted with the seeds of the Gospel, and for there to be a great harvest, we must be willing to sow the seeds everywhere we go. Sadly, we often allow many things to hinder us from fulfilling our mission. Like the disciples, we are easily distracted by the things around us. Jesus shows us in this text that the harvest is here now, and we have an immediate part to play in it. We must be willing to look up to Him and look out around us to discover where He is moving and how we can join Him in this harvest work. We pray that this message will encourage and challenge you to participate in this incredible mission!

So Much More: God Is Protecting

Text: Nehemiah 4

When the work of God’s people gains momentum and begins to take shape, it is almost assured that opposition to the work will intensify and threaten to stall the work and discourage the workers. It is in these moments that we can remind one another that if God is for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31). Instead of cowering in fear of the growing opposition, we can be assured that confidence in God’s protection produces courage in God’s people so that the main thing remains the main thing in the hills, the valleys, the conflict, and the calm.
