So Much More: God is Stirring

Text: Nehemiah 2:11-20

As a verb, the word “stir” means “to rouse to activity, to call forth, to disturb the relative position of the particles, to cause a movement or change of position.” It implies that there is a force working and moving to change the status quo, a state of being that is being disrupted. This is what we see God doing in Nehemiah 2, as He awakens and arouses the people to get to work. He had already stirred in Nehemiah’s life to call him to action and to prepare him for the task at hand, but here we find that God was doing so much more to stir in the lives of others and invite them to play an active part as well. We invite you to listen to this message today to discover how God may be stirring in you to accomplish His work today.

So Much More: God Is Calling

Text: Nehemiah 1:1-11

The book of Nehemiah is the last historical book written in the Old Testament, roughly around 440 BC. It would be easy for us to read this book and conclude that we are reading simply about Jewish history, but anytime we are reading the narratives of Scripture, it is important for us to read them appropriately. This is more than just a historical record of facts, but a revelation of God that records how He was working among His people, in His people, through His people, and for His people that they might know Him and make Him known to the nations of the world. At first glance, it would be easy to conclude that the book is about the man it is named after, about the spiritual complacency of God’s people, or about the great building project the people accomplished. However, because of the power and mercy of God, this book is about “so much more” because it is all about how God is working and moving to accomplish great things in the lives of His people. According to Ephesians 3:20-21, God is still able to do “so much more” than we can ask or even imagine, but we must be willing to walk by faith and answer His call. Are you ready for the journey? We hope you will listen today and be challenged to trust God for the “so much more” that He has in store.

Suit Up!: The Sword of the Spirit

Text: Ephesians 6:10-17

As we suit up with the armor of God, there is one final piece that is both defensive and offensive. We must grasp God’s Word, the Sword of the Spirit. As we do, we galvanize ourselves in not only the powerful greatness of God, but in His protective goodness that the gift of truth, God’s Word, brings. This allows us to stand strong in the midst of the battle girded in the full covering of the armor of God. As we take up and put on the armor, we know that it is in Christ Jesus we stand in victory.
